今天的话题是“president 和 vice president 要大写词头吗？”

很简单，原则如下：

当 president 后面紧接一国总统的名字时要大写，但其后若未紧接名字，只是指总统，则不大写。例如：

1. Does President Trump have the chance to gain his second term.
川普总统有机会获得连任吗？

2. The politician has decided not to run for President next year.
那位政治人物已决定明年不出马角逐总统宝座。

这里的 president 是个普通名词，不可大写！（所以上句话President 写法错误）

3. Thousands of people celebrated for President-elect Joe Biden yesterday.
昨天，数千民众欢庆拜登当选。

这里的 President-elect 表示“当选总统” ，因为后面跟着姓名，所以要大写词头。

另外注意， president 除了表示“总统” ，还表示公司和组织的 president (董事长、总裁) 以及大学的 president (校长) ，当它是后面紧接人名的头衔时，可以大写也可以不大写，都不算错。

那么就 vice president 而言，当它后面紧接一国副总统的名字时一定大写，比如：

U.S. Vice President Pence
美国副总统彭斯

如果后面不跟姓名时，不用大写。

另外提醒一下， vice president 中间不用加连字符哦！
